Fundraising campaign for Clement Kumwenda

A boy from Lusako Primary School, Karonga, Clement needs financial aid to support his education at Chilumba Secondary School in the district.

Project Overview & Background

Clement Kumwenda, aged 13, has been selected to continue his education at Chilumba Secondary School after completing his primary education at Lusako Primary School in rural Karonga.

For Clement, this should be a moment of celebration. Instead, his dream of continuing his education is at risk because his family cannot afford the costs involved.

When we spoke to Clement, he told us that if he cannot find financial support, he will not go to the nearby Community Day Secondary School. Instead, he plans to start fishing so that he can raise money for his education.

At an age when Clement should be sitting in a classroom, learning and preparing for his future, poverty is pushing him towards work.

His mother says the family is living in serious poverty. Despite their struggles, she wakes up early every morning to make and sell mandasi in an effort to raise money for her son's education. But what she earns is not enough to meet the costs.

She is now appealing to well-wishers to come to Clement's rescue and help keep him in school. Kindly donate!
